Description

Kombucha is known as the elixir of immortality, it is a bubbly probiotic drink made from  fermented tea. This superfood of beverages only gained mainstream popularity in recent years,  but it is said that the ancient Chinese first created it around 220 BC. It is made using SCOBY,  a symbiotic culture of bacteria that converts sweetened brewed tea into kombucha.

It is also known as the “Miracle Tea” for its ability to optimize the body’s performance at a  cellular level, however, it does not miraculously cure any disease. It detoxifies the body so that  your immune system can function to its optimum level and as a result the body heals itself.

How To Use
  • How often can we consume kombucha?

Although there are no complex rules on how often kombucha can be consumed, the centers of disease control recommend consuming about 12 ounces/ (150ml-250 ml) a day. It is best to drink kombucha in small amounts throughout the day and in moderation. But we recommend first-timer start with just 2 to 4 ounces of diluted kombucha. Drink it early in the morning on an empty stomach and observe how your body reacts to it over the next couple of hours. You can gradually increase your intake if your body responds well.

  • Can people with diabetes consume kombucha?

Many people with diabetes consume kombucha without worry. Some have even claimed that drinking kombucha has helped them reduce and even eliminate medication. This is because the probiotics and antioxidative in the kombucha regulate pancreatic cells and help the body manage blood sugar levels. However, we suggest that you get your doctor’s opinion before deciding to do anything of that sort.

  • Can you consume kombucha while you’re on antibiotics?

Absolutely! Drinking kombucha as you complete the course of your antibiotics may be able to restore the gut microbiota after being damaged by antibiotics. This is because the kombucha microbes help with regrowing and diversifying your gut flora.

  • Can pregnant or nursing women drink kombucha?

We do not encourage pregnant women to start drinking kombucha while their pregnant especially if it is their first time. Although kombucha is not harmful to pregnant women or the babies in their tummies, first-time drinkers may have a reaction to it that may or may not affect the baby.

However, nursing mothers can still consume kombucha if they are not revolted by it, as hormones have a tendency of making nursing mothers crave or reject certain foods or beverages. It is best if the kombucha is diluted and consumed little by little first and if the body adapts well, then the consumption of kombucha can be increased gradually and steadily.

  • Can children consume kombucha?

Yes. You can introduce kombucha to your children the same way you would to adults. Start with small amounts, diluted in, or followed by water. Observe how it works in your child’s system and if the response is positive, you may gradually increase the amount of kombucha they consume.

Extra Information

1. Can I store it at room temperature?

It is alright to leave the kombucha out for a few hours, however, leaving it out for more than  12 hours in a warm environment will increase fermentation and turn the kombucha sour. It is best to store the kombucha in the refrigerator.

2. How long can I keep kombucha?

Kombucha doesn’t expire as long as it is refrigerated. However, it usually has an expiry date of 6 to 8 months within which it is at its freshest.

3. Is there alcohol in kombucha?

Yes, but the alcohol in kombucha is so little that it is not even considered to be an alcoholic beverage.

4. Is your kombucha halal certified?
