Kombucha is a type of a fizzy drink made of fermented tea using sugar yeast and bacteria (SCOBY). It has been around for thousands of years, and its origins can be traced back to China. There are many health benefits that you can gain through regular consumption. However, it is not a cure or remedy for diseases or illnesses.
SCOBY is a symbiotic culture of gut friendly bacteria and yeast. In other words, it is alive with beneficial microorganisms that are a natural part of the kombucha.
It is believed that kombucha originated from Northeast China around 220 BC.
First, sweet tea is made with sugar. Then, SCOBY is introduced into the brew and left to ferment for a week or more until the right flavour is achieved.
Start with 2 to 4 ounces of kombucha or less, you may even dilute it with water and have it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. After observing how your body reacts over the next few hours, gradually increase your consumption.
